Having pursued his keen interest in history (MA, UCL), Mark worked in publishing as a writer and editor until chronic neuropathic pain forced him to stop. A positive experience with his pain management programme inspired him to co-found CamPain, an independent peer-to-peer pain support group in Camden, leading to Lived Experience Partner (LEP) work with the NHS. He took up LEP roles in Camden (Chair, patient and public engagement group), North Central London (Primary Care Committee), London (patient data Independent Information Access Group) and NHS England (MSK Lived Experience Group, NHS Horizons, Solving Together, Experience of Care Coproduction Team) plus other voluntary and international groups (Beryl Institute). Mark is enthusiastic to make a social contribution and a difference, giving something back for all the support he has received. He passionately believes in the importance of people being fully involved in managing their own healthcare and in co-producing our health services.
