TULAY involves a unique partnership between the UK and the Philippines. It aims to understand the extent of stroke and stroke services in the Philippines and co-design a new approach to rehabilitation and self-management support.

With sites across Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, the team are collecting survey and interview data from stroke survivors, household carers and Barangay (healthcare workers) to understand and identify needs across the stroke community. Bridges and City St George’s are leading on the co-design stages using participatory methods to help community engagement and develop the resources, training and support that people want and need.

The Philippines is an archipelago consisting of more than 7000 islands. It has a rich and diverse culture, and more than 130 different languages are spoken, making this a fascinating project to be involved with. This is the first project of its kind and aims to empower individuals and communities by integrating real life experiences, ideas and culture into new way to support people to feel confident to self-manage and live well after stroke.  For more information about TULAY follow the project on Facebook and see regular updates and newsletters.
