Self-Management Support Training
Bridges training supports system-wide change by delivering workshops to whole health and care teams across the patient pathway
Bridges training is collaborative, bold and innovative. We bring curiosity and extensive experience to understand your individual, team and service needs and enable effective personalised support to be integrated into every health and care interaction. We use learning and up to date evidence from our ongoing research, quality improvement projects and the priorities of people living with different health conditions, as well as the health and care staff that support them.
Bridges uses a staged approach to training to build health and care practitioners’ knowledge, skills and confidence in providing effective personalised self-management support.
All of our workshops within our training are highly interactive, and co-delivered by people with lived experience and clinical practitioners that have used Bridges effectively. Bringing together and learning from the joint experiences and perspectives of healthcare staff and service users is vital for initiating and embedding improvements to services.
Our training is also informed by our expertise in implementation and improvement science, which is why our training is not a one- or two-day course. Instead, we deliver 4 virtual workshops over a 6–9-week period, ensuring teams have time to implement and reflect.
Bridges training is the start of a collaboration with us that includes extensive implementation and sustainability support ensuring the impact is maintained and you gain real value for money when you invest in training.

Our training is accredited by the CPD Standards Office, meaning everyone who completes our courses will receive CPD points.

What will you learn?
Bridges training is built on our underpinning theory and self-efficacy principles, with a golden thread of co-design.
We help you change the way you work with people to help focus on what makes them feel most like themselves, this starts with a different type of listening, which leads to a deep understanding of their story, hopes, fears and what’s most important.
You will learn a unique “Bridgey” way of working that integrates key language and strategies into every health and care interaction. This is an evidenced-based approach which we know helps people feel more in control, less isolated and able to manage the day-to-day ups and downs of living with a health condition.
Bridges training is highly bespoke. Before the training starts, we identify your individual and team aims for the training, and make sure the course is tailored to your needs, and the needs of the people you work with.
What impact will this have?
The Bridges way of working delivers positive outcomes for people living with long-term conditions, for staff and teams and for the services and systems you work in.
How will you sustain Bridges?
We know that it takes time to embed new ways of working into practice, so we provide extensive implementation and sustainability support as part of our offer, providing incredible value for money.
